How to Make Friendship Bracelets
By Carolyn Hall
Wondering what to get for your friend’s birthday? Do you need something that’s not too expensive, but still is something special? Well, the string for them is affordable, the bracelets are easy to make, and they are a nice sign of friendship.
So here’s how to make a basic diagonal striped friendship bracelet…

What you need:
4 different colored flosses (the string) about 25 in. long
Scissors
A clipboard or something to hold the floss
Starting out:
1. Tie the strings together in a knot about an inch and a half from the end.
2. Separate the four strings.
Tying the strings:
3. Take the first string on the left and hold the second from the left tightly with your left hand.
4. Take the first string in your right hand and cross it over the second to make it look like a four.
5. Then put your hand though the four and grab the first string under. Pull the first string up to the top and tie it tightly.
6. Make a double knot the same way with the same two strings.
7. Now hold on to the first string still and knot the third string and then the fourth.
8. Place the original first string on the end on the right and take the new first string and keep repeating steps 3-8.
Finishing up:
9. After a while stop and put it around your wrist to see if it’s long enough.
10. If it is then tie a knot where the diagonals stop.
11. Cut the end if it’s longer than about an inch and a half.
12. Now you can tie it on your wrist or your friend’s!
